The Art Center Casa Das Mudas was designed by the architect Paulo David, named to the 2005 edition of the European prize for contemporary architecture, Mies van der Rohe. It was built as an extension of the existing House of Culture of Calheta, which currently operates the temporary Gallery space.
This cultural organization’s mission is to raise awareness and interest from the audience for arts in general, and particularly, contemporary art, promoting lifelong learning and art education.
With a core of building a completely new and autonomous, the new centre includes an exhibition area, auditorium, library, shop, cafeteria, restaurant and a large entertainment area for cultural workshops and art workshops and also a covered car park.
It has an auditorium with 200 seats, designed and equipped to ensure the execution of multiple events, including the presentation of concerts, films and plays, offering all the technical conditions for organizing conferences and workshops.
